Angeldog introduces the other performers into the live action: initially, they appear as antagonists, but these same performers later integrate to make a lovely and peaceful shadowplay. An augury of war is made, but this threat subsides again into a peaceful scene. Angeldog therefore establishes the delicate balance and constant cycling between violence and harmony that the rest of the opera elaborates. We also begin to see the expansion/dissolution of language. Where the first episode featured a very linear spoken text, this episode begins in a similar fashion but is cut off by a violent interruption. Subsequently, speech begins to break down into fragments and abstract vocalizations.
